Natural Wonders

Move & Make is a joyful mix of movement, mindfulness and creative fun. We’ll stretch, sway, and breathe together, then slow things down with reflection and hands-on art play. This experience is all about exploring feelings, imagination and self-expression in a relaxed, no-pressure space. Come as you are—no yoga skills or art “talent” needed. Just move a little, make a little and enjoy the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at jenniferbeytcoffin@mac.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

There are 3 ways to get from San Jose to Playa Chiquita:

  • SJO Airport Private Shuttle - Approximately 5-6 hours of travel time
  • SANSA flight to Limon + shuttle to retreat center - Approximately 2 hours of travel time
  • Rent a car - Approximately 5-6 hours of travel time

If at all possible, it might behoove you to arrive in San Jose a day early just in case there are any flight cancellations on the way, and it might give you a day of rest before making the remainder of the journey to the Caribbean coast. We have recommendations for great hotels near the airport.

Tierra de Sueños is committed to running an ecotourism business that is socially and environmentally responsible. Ecotourism is the ideal of responsible tourism including modest consumption of resources. Our lodge considers this environment and is involved in conservation, preservation and recycling. They employ locals and use local products and services. The property was left lush and many cautions were taken to cut down as few trees as possible.

TDS has 7 bungalows on site plus 2 rooms attached to the yoga pavilion.

There are 5 standard bungalows that can hold 2 people each in their own beds -

each bungalow consists of a hand-carved queen-sized bed and an additional

single-sized bed. The 2 rooms above the yoga pavilion  can hold 2

people each. Each of these rooms has 2 single-sized beds.

  • The bungalows sleep 2 with a queen bed + twin and a private bathroom.
  • Bungalows are open air without air conditioning, but feature screened windows and ceiling fans and a spacious porch with a hammock.
  • Bungalows are cleaned and tidied daily however, in our efforts to limit water use, linen changes are every three days, or once over a weeks stay on Wednesday.
  • The linen change on Wednesdays offers an opportunity for a bed swap so each person in the bungalow gets a chance to enjoy the queen bed.
  • They do not offer room service, but reception is a short walk from the bungalows, and they can help you get to anything you may need or want in the area.

    • Proteins will only be served during dinners.

Beautiful beaches, adventure travel, verdant natural surroundings and wildlife are abundant - even on the retreat center property!

The closest beach (across the street), Playa Chiquita, is many guest’s favorite. It is a series of small tide pools and coves (great for snorkeling) created by live coral formations. It’s quaint and private but also has a strong undertow in it’s most alluring sections.

Punta Uva our next beach over (only 2kms away) is a classical beautiful beach with a long straight beach lined with palm trees and perfect for swimming with no strong undertow.

For surfing there is the renowned Salsa Brava in town or the more consistent Beach Break in Cocles. Playa Grande and Manzanillo offer miles of coast waiting to be explored.

For shopping, Puerto Viejo is a bustling village featuring lots of restaurants and shops bout 5-6km which is a 25 minute bike ride, 10 minute car ride and if you’re up for walking, it takes around an hour and a half. There are several other villages nearby - Play Cocles, Punta Uva and Manzanillo.

The area is flanked by two amazing National Parks - Cahuita National Park and Gandoca- Manzanillo National Refuge. In both parks you'll encounter wildlife and sparsely populated beaches. If we're lucky, we might get to witness baby hawkbill turtles making their way to sea!
